Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

20th February 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

| £295

Part of our Healthy Living Series:

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Mindfulness is a superb way to develop resilience and maintain a healthy mind. Our course is designed to help you learn new ways of handling difficult physical sensations, feelings and moods.

The core skill that you will learn is ‘mindfulness’; a way of paying attention, on purpose and non-judgmentally, to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind, and the world around you.

Mindfulness can enable you to see things differently, undoing mental blocks and physical tension. It can increase your sense of personal confidence, of having more options and more strength to face the different challenges in your life.

Most people completing MBSR programmes report that they gain lasting benefits, such as:

  • more energy and enthusiasm
  • a greater capacity for relaxation
  • enhanced self-confidence
  • an increased ability to handle stressful situations

The course is based on the MBSR course developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the USA

The course is held on Monday evening, between 6:30pm to 9pm.
You attend once a week for 8 weeks, and there is an additional 1 day retreat on a Saturday.

Course dates are:

  • Monday 20th Feb 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 27th Feb 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 6th March 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 13th March 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 20th March 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 27th March 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 3rd April 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday 10th April 2017, 6:30pm – 9pm
  • Plus a one day retreat on Saturday 1st April, 10am – 4pm

The course is run by Rachel Millsted (CFM UMass Qualifed MBSR Teacher), our resident mindfulness and MBSR teacher.

We provide a safe, confidential space for approximately 15 people working together as a group.

Together you will learn several key mindfulness practices and have the chance to discuss these and your experience of them in the group.

Home practice is an important part of the course, and each participant is required to undertake to do 30 to 60 minutes of this, six days per week, between each class.

The cost of the course is £295 including VAT. This covers all the taught sessions, the one day retreat, audio materials to support home practice and a workbook.

This course is for people aged 16 and over.
